Sarah Rector, an African American woman, was born in Oklahoma in 1902. She died in 1967.

What is the story of her life?

In 1907, when she is only five years old, she inherits a piece of land in Oklahoma: 160 acres.

In 1913, when she is 10 or 11 years old, oil is found on her land. This means that she starts to make money. She makes more money than the average American citizen.

In 1920, when she is 18 years old, she is a millionaire. Since she is an African American, since she is only 18, and since she is a woman, this fact is highly remarkable.

In 1920, she moves from Oklahoma to Kansas City (Missouri)

In 1920, she marries a local business man named Kenneth Campbell. The couple has three children:

** 1925 - Kenneth junior

** 1926 - Leonard

** 1929 - Clarence

In 1930, the marriage ends

In 1934, she marries William Crawford who is the owner of a restaurant. They are married until her death in 19667
