Aarhus Museum of Art (Aarhus Kunstmuseum) was established in 1859. In 2004 the institution moved to a new location next to the House of Music, in the heart of the city. The circular skywalk, which is known as the Rainbow, was completed in 2011. Today it is one of the most visited museums in Denmark.
In 2004 the museum was given a new name: Aros. The word Aros is the original name of Aarhus. The name is usually written with three capital letters: ARoS. The capital letters form the word ARS which is the Latin word for art. Thus the new name means the museum of art in the city of Aarhus.
In this post you can see some of the works which are on display in the permanent exhibition.
